The Society,
in collaboration with the Town Historian, plays an active role
in sharing the heritage of the Town with the students of the
Edinburg Common School. Each year fourth graders visit both museums
and participate in historic building and site tours.
The "Nellie
Tyrrell Award" is given to the 4th grade student showing
the most interest in and study of history. Awarded in June, the
2009 recipient was Joshua Sitterly.
In addition,
the Town Historian makes slide show presentations on early Edinburg
subjects to various grade levels during the school year.
Books of local
historical interest are also purchased by the Society and given
to the school library.
