COMMUNITY EVENTS

The Society has promoted community and regional awareness of and involvement in the rich heritage of the small town of Edinburg by sponsoring the annual Historic Edinburgh Day celebration since 1992.

An historic bus tour is always an important event during the festivities; it enables residents and visitors to view the many historic buildings, sites, and cemeteries that are in the area. The tour is changed yearly, allowing visits to different combinations of locations. Horse and wagon rides convey visitors from one museum to the other; skill demonstrations such as weaving, spinning, woodworking, wooden hay rake and pack basket making, fly tying, trapping, snowshoe making, chair caning, quilt making, and blacksmithing inspire and inform; Revolutionary War reenactments educate and entertain. Historic displays show different aspects of life in our town and are changed yearly. The sale of commemorative historical society merchandise and raffle drawings benefit the Society.
